BitRobot rewards work in two layers:
  • Subnet Points are what you hand out. Every time a contributor does something you want to reward, your subnet awards them Subnet Points. They’re instant and uncapped — you never run out and you don’t pre-fund a pool. You decide what earns Subnet Points and how many to grant — reward your contributors however you like.
  • BitRobot Bolts are what contributors ultimately earn — the network-wide reward. A contributor’s Bolts add up across every subnet they take part in. On a recurring schedule that you choose, BitRobot converts each period’s Subnet Points into Bolts.
The link between them is a single idea:
Your share of the period’s Subnet Points = your share of the period’s Bolts.
You only ever grant Subnet Points. BitRobot handles the conversion to Bolts automatically — you don’t mint, transfer, or distribute Bolts yourself.
Think of Subnet Points as votes you cast during the period, and Bolts as the prize pool split at the end. The more of the period’s Subnet Points a contributor holds, the bigger their slice of that period’s Bolts.

Example

Say your subnet’s Bolts allocation for one period is 500 Bolts, and over that same period you grant a total of 10,000 Subnet Points across everyone. Alice didn’t earn Bolts because of any single grant — she earned them because she held 40% of that period’s Subnet Points when the conversion ran. The absolute number of Subnet Points doesn’t matter; the share does.
Subnet Points are scoped to a single period for conversion purposes. Once a period’s Subnet Points convert to Bolts, those Bolts are final. Subnet Points earned in the next period compete for the next period’s allocation.

Good to know

  • Subnet Points are uncapped and free to grant. There’s no pre-funded balance to top up — grant as many as your contribution model calls for. Keeping your Subnet Points scale consistent over time is what matters.
  • You can correct mistakes. Unconverted Subnet Points can be revoked instantly — with a points_revoke event or from the dashboard. Once Subnet Points have converted to Bolts, reversing them requires a reversal request that BitRobot reviews.
  • Owner split. If your subnet is configured with an owner split, a set percentage of each period’s Bolts goes to the subnet owner before the rest is shared among contributors.
  • Referrals. When a referred user’s Subnet Points convert to Bolts, their referrer automatically receives a 10% bonus in Bolts.
